One of the pioneer women of our town passed out one the great divide this past week. As noted in the News last week, she was badly burned, and from which she did not recover. Mrs. Tidwell was on of those old-fashion southern women, modest and unassuming possessed of all the motherly instincts, lovable and kine to all, hence everyone who knew her, loved her. She had lived to ripe old age, being 81 years of age at the time of her demise. She was the wife of W. C. Tidwell who went the way of all his fathers some years back. Was a ex-Confederate soldier, filled the fortunes of Lee and Jackson for four years. W. C. Tidwell was a friend indeed, when we came here some thirty-madd years ago, he helped us financially and other ways. It's the failing of an Irishman, that he never forgets a friend, hence we have tender recollection of the W C. Tidwell. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dockery. many fragrant flowers decorated her last resting place.
