Rose Marie Watson Pierce, 79, of Jackson, TN, formerly of Rosedale and raised in Marks, died March 12, at Jackson, TN, General Hospital. Funeral services were March 18 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS, with burial in Beulah Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierce was born April 16, 1925, in Marks to S. W. Watson and Ethel Bagwell Watson. She grew up in Marks and graduated from Marks High School. She studied nursing at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and married Dewey Taylor Pierce. She and her husband lived in Rosedale for many years and attended the First Baptist Church. She retired from West Bolivar High School in Rosedale. After her husband's death, she moved to Jackson, TN, to be with her son. She was a member of Promise Church in Jackson.
Survivors include a son, James "Jim" Sumler of Jackson, TN; three step-daughters, Donna Norton of Memphis, Jeannie Sadler of Munford, TN, Dora Lynn Espinoza of Memphis; two brothers, Dr. Billy Joe Watson of Greenville, Cecil Watson of Senatobia; two sisters, Catherine Webster of Clarksdale, Patsy Smith of Branson, MO; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
