Born in Glendale, Calif., Michael Veselich attended Glendale High School and worked as a waiter at his father's restaurant, Marty's Patio, on East 7th Street in Los Angeles. In June 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps.

Veselich reached the rank of second lieutenant, and was serving as a bombardier with the Eighth Air Force in Europe when he was reported lost over Germany in June 1944.

Aboard B-17G Flying Fortress #42-97235 with the 729th Bomb Squadron, 452nd Bomb Group.

Shot down by enemy fighters enroute to Brux, Czechoslovakia, and crashed near Merzhausen, four miles southwest of Usingen, Germany. Five crewmembers were killed and five survived with injuries and taken prisoner. Missing Air Crew Report № 4778.

Veselich was survived by his parents, Martin and Nicolina Veselich, and three sibilings, Peter, Helen and Martin Jr.
