James Andrew Barker, 67 of Waldoboro, Maine died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

James was born in Wareham to late Donald William Barker and Muriel Evelyn Rosenblum. He graduated from Harwich High School, class of 1968. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy aboard the Destroyer USS Fiske (DD/DDR - 842).

James was a long time resident of Harwich, MA and a Harwich Department of Public Works employee for 24 years before retiring in 2013.

James is survived by his former wife Deborah L. Barker of Harwich, MA, his son Timothy James Barker and wife Aimee of Harwich, MA, and daughter Brynn Elizabeth Pina and husband Christopher also of Harwich, MA,as well as four grandchildren.

He is also survived by three sisters Jill and her husband Daniel Levesque of South Yarmouth, MA, Sarah A. (Barker) Biddinger of Madison, WI, Jane Parascand and her husband Louis J. Parascand, Jr. of West Harwich, MA and one brother John W. Barker and his wife Karen of Eastham, MA.

James loved spending time with his two wonderful children and four beautiful grandchildren. He had a passion for motorcycle riding, gardening, cooking and had a true love for dogs. He deeply missed his two beloved dogs Maxine and Colin.

His visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 16th at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street, West Harwich, MA 02671, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Bourne National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 3981 Main Street (Route 6A) East Brewster, MA 02631.
