PRAIRIE CITY — Ruth M. Adams, 81, of Prairie City, formerly of Monroe, died Friday, Jan. 25, at Clearview Manor in Prairie City. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 28, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Friends may call after noon on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home, where family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Clearview Manor Activity Fund. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
The daughter of Gerrit W. and Sadie Birkenholz Kersbergen, she was born May 10, 1920 in Pella. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1938. She married Leonard R. Adams on Nov. 7, 1942 in Des Moines.
Mrs. Adams worked for many years at Luggage Inc. in Des Moines. She lived in Monroe until 1942. She moved to Des Moines, where she lived until 1996, then moved to Clearview Manor in Prairie City. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Van Baale of Pleasant Hill, and Sherry Graham of Norwalk: and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons- in-law, Richard Graham and Donald Van Baale, a great granddaughter, and a special friend, Wayne Crigler.
