Grant David Bowerman, 63, Blue Springs, MO, passed away February 15, 2017. Memorial services were held March 11, 2017, at Lakeland Community Church, 913 Colburn Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO. Private committal services were held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS; cremation. The family requested contributions to www.outpacingmelanoma.org c/o Team GB.

Grant was born May 26, 1953, in Independence, MO. He graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City in 1971, and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Viet Nam era. He was a career salesman with companies that included Proctor & Gamble, 3M, and Traffic Control Corporation. He was a life-long follower of Jesus Christ and an ordained minister. Grant was a former Blue Springs, MO, city councilman, representing the 3rd District and was, at the time of his death, a member of the Blue Springs Public Safety Board. He was a member of the American Legion, NRA, and Safari Club International. In addition to serving his community, Grant enjoyed working on his 160-acre farm in Daviess County, MO, hunting, fishing, playing golf, and riding his Harley. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage, as well as his dual American and Canadian citizenship.

Grant was preceded in death by his father, David Ward L. Bowerman. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Jane Bowerman, of the home; daughters Rachel M. Bowerman-Deering and husband Dave, Olathe, KS; Sarah J. Zung and husband Mike, Lee’s Summit, MO; son David G. Bowerman and wife Libby, Bloomington, IL; his mother Myrtle J. Bowerman, Independence, MO; brothers Donnie Bowerman and wife Tina, Missouri Valley, IA; Van L. Bowerman and wife Beth, Kansas City, MO; sister Patti Jobe and husband Robert, Delaware, OK; brother Reg Bowerman and wife Lesa, Shakopee, MN; grandchildren Anna Zung, Sam Zung, Kate Bowerman, and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
