Pamela (Yush) Weinstein, 53, of Main Street, Farmington, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001), peacefully at home with her family by her side. Born in Hartford, she was the beloved daughter of Annette (Cohen) Yush of Bloomfield, and the late Leonard Yush. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Yush Campbell.

In 1966 she graduated Conard High School in West Hartford and she received a B.A. Degree from Chandler School for Women, Boston, MA in 1968. She was Vice President of the Men's Division of Gottex International, working between NYC and Israel, before retiring. Prior to that she held several retail merchandising positions including General Manager of Britches of Georgetown; General Manager of Ann Taylor in New York City; Regional Sales Manager for Merona Sport; and Associate Sales Manager of Albert Nipon Sportswear.

Pam was a charter member of the International Leadership Council of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, CA; a member of the President's Council and the Ambassador's Circle of The World Jewish Congress; a 'Circle of Remembrance' and charter member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council in Washington, DC; a life member of Hadassah, and her name is inscribed for cancer research therapy and prevention on the 'Wall of Promise' at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel; a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women; a Friend of The National Conference of Synagogue Youth; a member of the Jewish Museum in New York City; a member of the Israel Tennis Center; a member of the Anti-Defamation League; and a 'Lion of Judah' member of the Women's Division of Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Pam was also a patron of the arts: a former member of the Board of The Hartford Ballet; a member of the 'Studio Society' of Connecticut Public Television; a member of the Marquee Club of the Horace Bushnell Society; a supporter of Connecticut Opera and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra; and a premier member of the Wadsworth Atheneum.

She was also a life member of the Farmington Historical Society; a supporter of the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp; a member of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition; and a member of the Founders Society of the University of Connecticut Foundation. In 2000, The Pamela Weinstein Research Fund for Ovarian Cancer had been established at the UConn Health Center in Farmington.

Pam was a member of The Jewish Community Center in West Hartford, as well as the following synagogues: Beth David Synagogue of West Hartford; Beth El Temple of West Hartford; Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield; Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom of Simsbury; and The Young Israel Synagogue of West Hartford. Pam was larger than life and her wisdom, insight, imagination and candor touched all who knew her.

Besides her mother, she leaves her husband, Morton L. Weinstein; her children, Brett M. Weinstein of Portland, OR, and Kara A. Weinstein of Miami, FL; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evelyn and Paul H. Weinstein of Bloomfield; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dr. Nancy J. Weinstein and Robert Stiehler of Avon, Attorney F. Barbara and James McCleary of Midway, UT, and E. Mac Campbell of West Hartford.

Funeral Services will be held TODAY, June 29, 2001, at 10:30am at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford with interment in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A Memorial Period will be observed at her home, 96 Main Street, Farmington, Friday following the interment through Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pam's memory may be made to UCS/Pamela Weinstein Research Fund for Ovarian Cancer, c/o Development Office MC4032, UConn Health Center, 263 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT.
