She was born in New York City on February 27, 1929 to the late William and Catherine (Linsly) Bertini.
Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Brook Hollow Healthcare Center in Wallingford for over twenty-five years. Joan was an avid fan of the UConn girls’ basketball team. She had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford.
She is survived by children: Cathy, Bob, Billy, Antonio (and wife Sandra), David and Dorothy, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and friend Jim, and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her beloved cat Snowball. She was predeceased by her brothers Luke and Bill. The family wishes to thank the staff at Masonic Healthcare for their wonderful care.
A graveside service will be led by the Rev. Dean O. Warburton on Wednesday, November 13 at 10:30 AM at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
