The Death of Mrs. Eliza J. Wyckoff

Mrs. Eliza J. Wyckoff, one of the oldests settlers in this city, died yesterday at the house of her daughter, at 812 Hancock street, in the 76th year of her age. Mrs. Wyckoff was the daughter of Henderson P. Low and was born in 1818 in Baltimore. Her father, grandfather and uncles fought with distinction in the revolution. Her husband was Jacob V.D. Wyckoff, who started the Seventh regiment of New York in 1824, when that organization acted as an escort to General Lafayette. Mrs. Wyckoff leaves a family consisting of two sons, three daughters and a number of grandchildren. The funeral will be on next Tuesday at 2 P.M. from the house of her daughter. The interment will be in Greenwood.

She married Jacob Van Dyke WYCKOFF in 1835, and together they had: Albert Terhune WYCKOFF (13 Jul. 1838 - 09 Feb. 1900), Emily WYCKOFF (1840 - 1881) [she married Moses SMITH], Mary V. Wyckoff (b. 1842), Jacob Van Dyke WYCKOFF Jr. (1844 - 21 May 1916), Eliza WYCKOFF (b. 1846) [she married George SNEDEKER], and Alice Lowe WYCKOFF (1849 - 22 Mar. 1900) [she married Walter BEST].
