Raymond D. Bryant, Sr.
April 24, 1926 - February 15, 2017
Newsoms- Raymond Davis Bryant, Sr., 90, passed away February 15, 2017 at the East Pavilion. A native of Southampton County, Mr. Bryant was a son of the late John Sterling Bryant and Sallie Edwards Bryant. He was also predeceased by his wife, Hazel Revelle Stephenson Bryant, his first wife, Eunice Odell Ferguson Bryant, and an infant daughter, four sisters, Ruby Lee Duncan, Pearl Smith, Elsie Mae Harrell and Virginia Beale and four brothers, Sterling Jr., Willie Reeves, James T. and Leslie P. Bryant.
Mr. Bryant was a lifelong Southampton County farmer, a Navy Veteran of WWII and was a member of Newsoms Ruritan Club. He had been a member of Mt. Horeb UMC and High Street UMC.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, R. Davis “Bubba” Bryant, Jr. and his wife Andrea “Diddle”, Dennis T. “Buckwheat” Bryant and Cynthia Bryant Cobb all of Newsoms, six grandchildren, Brandi Francis (Lee), Angie Pelley (Sam), Krystal Bryant, Katelyn, Brittany and Cole Cobb and two great grandchildren, Ben and Jake Francis, and Hazel’s daughters, Jane Armistead and Nancy Reedy and their families and four special caregivers, Vera Jones, Shelby Ward, Lois Granger and Earline Walker.
A funeral will be held at 2PM Sunday February 19, 2017 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with the Rev. Ian Hackmann, Rev. Kenneth Williams and Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. The burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.
