Polish Statesman. He served as the 8th Prime Minister of the 2nd Republic of Poland from July until December 1922. Born in Okocium, which was part of the Austrian Empire at the time, he studied medicine at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow from 1886 until 1893 and became a microbiologist. In 1899 he became a professor at Jagiellonain University and served as a rector there from 1921 until 1922. He also served briefly as the Minister of Religious Affairs. From 1922 until 1927 he was a Senator in the Polish Senate. For his services, He was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He died at the age of 81.
