This memorial is for a kitty that I took care of that found my family. I named her Marris (after Niles' wife in the Frasier show) & she lived outside my house for about a year. She was a great cat. She would wait for me to come home from work & would be in my parking spot at 11:45 at night. She would walk with us to get the mail. Her meows sounded more like she was singing to us. She was pregnant with her first litter when she came to us. She went away a few days when she had the babies. To our surprise, she brought them to us just days old one at a time. I had flowers on my porch & she would lay inthem with the 4 kittens to nurse them. It was adorable. The all passed away except one I named Orion. He was a beatiful charcoal grey. Someone ended up taking him. A long while later, I saw a cat that might have been him outside & called him. He came runninng to me. I fed him a couple of days & he left again. He looked like Merry in structure, long & lean.

That summer she was pregnant again, when it was hot we would let her in so she could just chill out. She would lay on her back & let me pet her belly. She had the next litter on Sept 11th 2002 & had them away from us as well. It took her longer to bring them to us this time & she only had 2. One grey we named Gandalf & one orange & white that I named Simon. One day in December, she just never showed back up. The babies stayed with us. I had figured someone else picked her up & took her because she was very friendly. It didn't seem right though. She wouldn't have left her kittens. One night I came home from work & my neighbor stopped me & told me Marris was dead. I was shocked & asked how he knew. He said a woman had com by him crying with a Wal-Mart bag in her hand & mumbling something about a cat. He asked her what was in the bag. It was Marris & someone had done the most horrible thing to her. She had been skinned alive. My neighbor took the bag & told the girl that the cat was mine. He had already buried her in a park nearby. He didn't want me to see her that way. I am so greatful for that.

Someone ended up taking Gandalf off of my porch & Simon came insde since he the only thing I had left of her. He has the same singin meows that his momma had. He has her structure too, he's just fatter, lol.

Miss Merry-Berry we miss you!
