Vester Franklin Mayfield was born on November 28, 1926, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2017, in Shawnee Oklahoma, at the age of 90. Vester, the son of Frank and Maggie (Maynard) Mayfield, was a lifelong resident of Paden.

He married Opal Wilson on June 29, 1951. She preceded Vester in death on March 5, 2015. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Vester was a member of the Burnett Mission and worked at McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa for 25 years.

His parents; wife; son, Roger Dale Mayfield; brothers, Harvey, Fred, Gene; and sister, Katie Brown preceded Vester in death.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bob Rosson of Shawnee; brother,
Ray Mayfield of Paden; sister, Alice Coward of Sallisaw and Dorothy Heard of Paden; grandsons,
Jason, Aaron, and Joseph Rosson other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at Burnett Mission in Paden with Pastor Terry Garner and Rev. Paul Heard officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery.
