MATHEWS - Jesse C. Fariss Sr., age 87, of North, Va., died on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004. He retired in 1982 from Virginia Department of Transportation where he worked for 29 years. He is survived by his wife, Pearl A. Fariss; a daughter, Brenda Carol Callis and her husband, Melvin A. Callis, of Cobbs Creek, Va.; and his son, Jesse C. Fariss Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Dutton, Va.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home Chapel, Mathews, with interment to follow in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Living Waters Family Outreach Center, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, is in charge of the arrangements. Published in the Daily Press on 12/9/2004.
