Richard A. Isaacson 1926 ~ 2003 Richard Alonzo Isaacson died July 16, 2003 from pulmonary failure. He was born September 16, 1926, in Ephraim, Utah, to Thorpe Beal and Lula Jones Isaacson. He graduated from East High School. Richard contracted polio during his senior year at East and spent the year in an iron lung. After a valiant recovery, Richard graduated from the University of Utah, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He served a mission for the LDS Church in New England from 1946 - 1948. He began a career in life insurance in 1948 and was a Life and Qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table for 32 Years. He was a member of The Country Club. He married Gayle Olsen in 1949, two children, later divorced. He married Jean Romney Parkinson on May 8, 1967 and became a father to her five children. Richard faithfully served the LDS Church. He was in two bishoprics, a Branch President at Holy Cross Hospital, and served on the High Council. He particularly enjoyed serving as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple and as a guide on Temple Square. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Judy Isaacson (Jay) Jacobsen, San Diego; son, Peter Isaacson, Salt Lake; step-children, David (Cynthia) Parkinson, Salt Lake; Alan (Christina) Parkinson, Provo; Susan Parkinson (Robert) Jackson, Provo; Karen Parkinson (David) Blake, Alpine; Mari Anne Parkinson (David) Lambert, Sammamish, WA; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children; also survived by his sister, Joyce Isaacson (Royal) Tribe; and sister-in-law, Shirley Pardoe. He deeply loved his family and friends and was devoted to their happiness. His life was filled with service and generosity to others. Funeral services Saturday, July 19, at 12 noon, Arlington Hills Ward, 1300 East Fairfax Road. Friends may call Friday evening at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment in Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
