Ruth M. Messerli (90) of Alexandria, Virginia, died Monday January 30, 2017. Loving wife of the late Charles (Chuck) Messerli; Ruth is survived by son, Richard Messerli, daughter, Mary (Paul) Messerli Phillips, daughter, Judy Messerli; grandson, Brian Messerli; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
Ruth was born in West, Texas and grew up in Waco, Texas. She moved to San Francisco, CA where she worked for RCA. She married Chuck Messerli, an Air Force Officer in 1951 in Waco, Texas. Ruth lived and traveled the world with her husband and children during her 30 years as an Air Force spouse. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, at her children's schools, and the church. Ruth and Chuck settled in Alexandria after retiring from the Air Force, where she worked for Professional Insurance Agents for 14 years. After retirement Ruth's favorite past time was traveling with family and friends.
Visitation services will be held Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9th, 2017 at Arlington National Cemetery. The funeral mass will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Old Post Chapel on Ft. Myer Army Post.
