Shayla Denise Stennis, 21, died Jan. 15, 2007, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Missionary Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Montgom-ery officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Springs Church Cemetery in Dekalb. Visitation is today from noon to 7 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home in Columbus. The family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m. Miss Stennis was born June 11, 1985, in Meridian to Willie Stennis and Jacqueline Stennis of Columbus. She was an active member of Missionary Union Baptist Church and was a 2003 graduate of Columbus High School. She was a senior at the University of Southern Mississippi and had just completed a six-month internship with MTV VH1 Division in New York City. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Willie and Hazel Stennis of Dekalb. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Newton and Callie Robinson of Dekalb. Pallbearers will be Marlon Andrews, Keith, Glen and Curlee Alexander, Robinson Brannamon and Javares Anthony.
