Edward Peter Kurtz, 81 years of age, a retired farmer living on the Old Freeburg Road about three and one-half miles from Belleville, died at his home at 7 o'clock Saturday night after a lingering illness.
He was born in Belleville, June 3, 1849, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kurtz. His wife, the former Miss Mary Hemmer, died November 28, 1927.
He is survived by the following children:
Mrs. Joseph Fererro, St. Louis, Mo.
Miss Ida Kurtz, at home
Oscar Kurtz, at home
Alfred Kurtz, at home
Leonard Kurtz, at home
Mrs. Bern Thorp, Estherville, Iowa
Mrs. Louis Wiessert, Otesville, Mich.
Irvin Kurtz, San Diego, Calif.
He leaves two sisters:
Mrs. Elizabeth Boul, Belleville
Mrs. Charles Bertorelli, Memphis, Tenn.
... 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 9:45 o'clock Wednesday mo9rning from the home to St. Peter's Cathedral where the services will start at 10 o'clock. Interment will take place in Green Mount Cemetery. The body was removed from the Bux Undertaking Company's chapel to the Kurtz home at 10 o'clock this morning.
