Merna Lois Aalderks, age 85, of Renville, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Granite Falls Hospital.
Merna Lois Aalderks was born on April 12, 1930, in Renville, Minnesota to Henry and Ethel (Herring) Raske. She grew up on a farm near Renville and graduated from Renville High School in 1948. Merna was united in marriage to Dick Aalderks on November 13, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they farmed north of Sacred Heart and during their 54 years of marriage, she raised her five children. She enjoyed observing her children's activities as well as those of her grandchildren. She was an active member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being part of the church basement ladies. She also enjoyed reading, flower gardening, going for drives (with a stop for ice cream), and spending time with her grand kids and great grand kids.
Survivors include her children: Phyllis, Ellen, David, Rick and Jean. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her brothers Bruce and Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick in 2002, her brothers and sister: Gladys, Donald, Juren "Bud", and Ralph; and her grandsons Brian Hagen and Aaron Grussing.
