Sally Ann Vigil Avila, 58, of Bennett, Colo. entered into eternal rest Monday Dec. 26, 2016. She was born in Silver City on July 20, 1958 to Avenildo Jose Sr. and Aggie Vigil. Sally graduated from Cobre High School and worked as an accountant/office manager for a large building supply company in Denver, Colo., until her retirement in 2012 to pursue running a family-owned business with her husband of 30 years. Sally is survived by her husband Filandro Avila fo the family home in Bennett, Colo.; her mother Aggie Vigil of San Juan, N.M.; two brothers Anthony Vigil of Los Lunas, N.M. and Avenildo Jr. "A.J." and his wife Amy Vigil of Bayard; a sister Elma Vigil of Denver, Colo.; three children a daughter Gina Rodriguez and her husband Gary of North Hurley, a son David Vigil of Fort Eustis-New Port News, Va., and her stepdaughter Iris Avila of the family home.She is also survived by three grandchildren Daniel Audon Lopez of Silver City, Gary Rodriguez Jr. "GJ" and Zynasia Rodriguez of North Hurley and numerous nephews, neices, and cousins in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Texas who all love and will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her father Avenildo Jose Vigil Sr. in 1990 and sister Rosemary Vigil Ortiz in 2012. A Rosary and Mass will be held at the San Juan Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 25. The placing of her ashes at the San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery will take place immediately after the Mass with a gathering at the Mimbres Round Up Lodge to follow to celebrate her life.
