Ralph L. Ayers
LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Ralph Ayers will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lexington Baptist Church with Dan Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church reception hall. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Lexington, SC. Serving as pallbearers will be: Durham Hamilton, Jr., Tommy Ayers, Randy Stabler, Tim Peninger, Douglas Josey and Tristan Widener. Mr. Ayers passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Memorial contributions may be sent to the SC Chapter of the , 2999 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169 or Amedisys Home Health of West Columbia, 3227 Sunset Blvd. #F, Ste. 101, West Columbia, SC 29169.
Born in St. Matthews, SC, he was the son of the late Frank and Annie Inabinet Ayers. He was a member of Lexington Baptist Church. Mr. Ayers retired from Bell South in 1990 with 34 years of service. After retiring from Bell South, he took a job with the State Budget and Control Board and worked for another ten years before retiring the second time. Mr. Ayers had a strong work ethic and always went above and beyond with every job he completed. Mr. and Mrs. Ayers lived in Orangeburg, SC for 35 years before moving to Lexington, SC to be closer to their family. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ethel Wise Ayers; two daughters, Kelly (Bobby) Heid of Lexington, SC and Melissa (Durham) Hamilton of Woodstock, GA; brother, Harvey Floyd (Nancy) Ayers of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Dennis, Anna (Aaron) Goss, Durham Hamilton, Jr., Elizabeth Hamilton and Emily Heid and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and caregiver, Tristan Widener.
