Mary was born in Bolivar, Missouri to Annie (Menefee) and Charles Puthuff Her father died when she was very young. She and a half brother moved with their mother to Oklahoma. There Mary met and married Earl Stewart in 1902. They lived in Lincoln County when they married. They had four children - Clarence Bailey, Flossie Mary, Manford Royce and Ira Alfred. Bailey died in 1920 at the age of 17 and shortly afterwards the family moved to Cleveland County and lived on a farm until 1962 when they sold it and moved to Oklahoma City. She lived there until her death in 1968. She was "Mawmaw" to seven grandchildren, Carolyn, Barbara, Dorothy, Ronnie and Morris Stewart and Earl and Mary Campbell.
She was survived by her children: Flossie Campbell and Manford Stewart and wife Evy Lois and Ira Stewart and wife Lavieta and her grandchildren and great-granchildren.
Mary loved to watch the Yankees play baseball on TV, where she cheered on Mickey Mantle. If the Yanks were behind she would say "everything will be ok, Mickey is coming up."
She was quite a fisherman. The farm in Cleveland County had three large ponds on it and she fished nearly everyday, weather permitting. Her dog, Old Mutt, would go with her and set beside her while she fished. She could catch the big ones when no one else could. She was quite a woman.
