Dau. of Thomas Sheldon of Brookfield, Essex Co., NY and his 2nd wife, Mrs. Mary Douw (widow of innkeeper Peter Douw/Dow, Esq. of Brookfield). Parthenia was a twin with her brother Peter Douw Sheldon. When they were born, they were each given the names of their parents' first spouses.
Later in life Mrs. Mary Sheldon moved to Cleveland, OH with some of her Douw children as well as Peter; some of the Dow children moved on to Livonia, MI. Mary and son Peter are buried in the same plot, Erie St. Cem., Cleveland across the street from Progressive Field. Parthenia died in 1859 after a two-year bout with consumption (her brother Peter also died from the same ailment).
