Alva Lou Pearson, 83 of Buckley passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Traverse City. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Grant Twp to Daniel and Carrie (Dixon) Harkins. Alva was a 1951 graduate of Buckley High School and played on the girls baskeball team of which she was very proud. On February 20, 1954 she married Harold Junior Pearson at First Congregational Church in Traverse City. Alva retired from the State Hospital in 1988 after over 30 years of dedicated employment.
Among many things, Alva Lou enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, dancing, sports, jigsaw puzzles, baking, and crocheting, making many beautiful afghan blankets. She loved the Christmas season. Above all, Alva Lou enjoyed time visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
