OBITUARY
J.B. Harper

Funeral services for James Beldon Harper, 67, of Lehigh were held Thursday afternoon at the Lehigh Christian Church with Rev. S. C. Harris officiating. Foster Funeral Home of Webster City was in charge of the arrangements.
During the services, Mrs. Albert Johnson played the piano and Mrs. Oscar Bjork sang, "No Night There," and "Beyond The Sunset".
Mrs. Ada Timmons, Mrs. Zelda Daniels and Mrs. Joyce Bryant had charge of the flowers.
Pallbearers, all of whom were first cousins of Mr. Harper, were Dennis Williams, Oscar Williams, D. L. Williams, Basil Williams, Dow Crouse, and Charles Swalla. Burial was at the West Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Harper died very suddenly Tuesday morning in the waiting room of the doctors office after suffering a heart attack on the street.
James Beldon Harper, son of James and Elizabeth Harper was born January 1, 1885 in Lehigh and was a lifetime resident of Lehigh. In his early days he was a coal miner, but later turned to masonary work.
On August 22, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Lois Eckelberger who died December 6, 1947.
He is survived by one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Herrington of Lehigh, with whom he made his home; Dean W. Harper of San Jose, California, and Beldon G. Harper of New York. There are five grandchildren and one brother, G. Paul Harper of Brookings, South Dakota.
Besides his wife, Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Out-of-town relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Harper of Brookings, South Dakota and Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Swenning of Lake Preston, South Dakota. Ladies of the Christian church served a noon lunch to the relatives and friends.
