Alan Ray Gifford, 50, of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home. He was born in Fairmont on March 24, 1966 the only child of Marilyn (Jackson) Gifford and the late Col. Richard E. Gifford.
Alan graduated from East Fairmont High School and Webster College. He had worked for General Delivery and most recently sold on EBay.
His passion was music. Alan was an extremely talented musician and vocalist. He played several different instruments, most often the keyboard. He played with several gospel and county groups including, Silver Rador, Rynth Section, Transition, John Bolton and Marshall Sisters. He currently played with Intent, Country Knights, Knights of the Cross and Psalm 150.
Alan was a devoted member of the Rose of Sharon Church. He served the church with his Christian Music and the Rose of Sharon Facebook with his other passion of taking beautiful pictures.
Alan loved people. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family, his music family and his many good and dear friends.
In addition to his mother, Alan is survived by his grandmother, who he was extremely close to and helped care for, Virginia Jackson of Fairmont; his aunt, Pam Blagg and her husband Bruce of Florida; his uncle, George Darrell Jackson and his wife Barbara of Clarksburg and several cousins, great cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, George F. Jackson.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on Thursday from noon to 8pm and on Friday from 9am to 10am. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10am at the funeral home with his Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
