Marjorie Phyliss Aalbregtse, age 91, of New Palestine, Indiana, and formerly of Marshall passed away on Friday, February 24th, at her own home in New Palestine, Indiana.

Marge was born in Marshall, Michigan, on July 24, 1925, to Fredrick J. Burns and Ethel Marie (Pryor) Burns. She was a resident of Marshall for 90 years. She graduated from Marshall High School where she was a cheerleader. She loved to sing, dance, and entertain. Later, she was hired by the Marshall Public Schools, working there in several positions for 29 years. She received the Superintendent's Award for School and Community Relations. She loved helping, serving, encouraging, and sharing her faith with her family, friends, co-workers, and everyone that she met.

On February 23, 1946, she married her husband John Aalbregtse in San Francisco, California. They were married for nearly 62 years. They had three children, Margie Lynne, John (Randy), and Kevin. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marshall where she taught Sunday school. When her children were younger, she was a leader in both the Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls for many years. Marge and John were honored by serving as the Grand Marshalls of the 1992 Christmas Parade and were both recognized as Mr. and Mrs. Hospitality during a Michigan Week celebration

Marge is survived by her daughter, Margie Lynne (Larry) DeBruyn of New Palestine, Indiana. She has eight grandchildren: Spencer Aalbregtse, Alysha (Aalbregtse) Wachtmann, Fawn (Aalbregtse) Erwin, Heather Aalbregtse, Shannan Aalbregtse, Naomi Aalbregtse, Daniel DeBruyn and David DeBruyn. She has four great-grandchildren: Kyzar, Taryn, and John Nolan Aalbregtse, and Tyson Wachtmann. She is survived by daughter-in-law Patricia Aalbregtse along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Doug and Bill Burns, husband John Aalbregtse, and two sons, Randy and Kevin Aalbregtse.

Marge not only loved her family , friends and the Marshall community but foremost loved the Lord Jesus Christ. While she will be greatly missed, we know that "to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord." Her family rejoices in her home going.

The immediate family will meet for a graveside memorial service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, friends who desire to do so may make a memorial contribution. She requested that the memorial gifts be given to the Fountain Clinic and The Meyer Children's Fund (Marshall Community Foundation).
