Joanne R. Blachly, 82, a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and businesswoman, passed away in Indianapolis, IN on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Joanne was born on January 20, 1935, in Chicago, IL to James F. and Mae (Atkin) Rogan. She attended Bishop Noll High School and St. Mary's College, and received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University in 1956. On July 20, 1957, she married Quentin A. Blachly. Shortly after sending her youngest son off to college, Joanne co-founded Seasons on the Square, a women's clothier in Valparaiso, with Helen Flude. Joanne also partnered in that business with Kay Kruklitis before its sale in 2003. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Quentin, an infant daughter, Gail, her brother and sister-in-law, James F. and Barbara S. Rogan, and her brother-in-law, Robert Bruce. Joanne is survived by her children: David (Roberta Ann) of Carmel, IN, Mary Kathryn of Murfreesboro, TN, Gregory of Valparaiso, IN, Joyce (Gary) Bolton of Florence, KY, and Grant (Tammy) of Raleigh, North Carolina; ten grandchildren: Patrick and Gail Blachly, Hannah (Riley) Rapp, Nathan Blachly, Peter, Quentin and Lucy Bolton, Alex, Everett and Chase Blachly; her sisters, Patricia (Fred H., Jr.) Beckman and Kathryn R. Bruce; and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Joanne's caregivers and companions, especially America Schubert and Luz Maria Castellanos.
