Frances or Francie as she was called by her family was born in Canarsie in 1917. She lived her entire life on East 92nd Street in the house that she and most of her brothers and sisters were born in. She was a wonderful jolly person with a heart of gold. She was friendly to everyone, and all that knew her loved her. Where ever she went in Canarsie she was always saying hello to someone that she knew. Many a day she would be walking down East 92nd St. and the truck drivers who delievered the bread to Henry's Delicatessen on the corner would beep their horns and wave hello to her. She never married and after the deaths of her father and mother in 1947 and 1948, she was the caretaker for the family. She was a wonderful cook, and cooked on the style of her mother. She loved animals and always fed all the stray animals in the neighborhood, especially the stray cats. After her sister Pat died in 1957, she and her brother Harry and sister Betty, took in Pat's 2 year old son Steven, and Steven's father Ed to live with them. It was a wonderful home filed with love and warmth. Sadly, in May of 1963 she was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died on Saturday, January 25, 1964 at Linden General Hospital in East New York. She was 46 years old and taken from us way to soon. Even after all these years latter she is always remembered, greatly missed and deeply mourned by all who knew and loved her.
