Ann Norrine (Linn) Abrams

On Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, Ann Norrine (Linn) Abrams passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at her home in Rockville.
She was born at home on Aug. 29, 1931, to Homer and Norrine Linn of Cumberland.
In high school, Ann was a gifted writer and speaker who won the Maryland I Speak for Democracy speech contest.
One of the greatest highlights of her life was having the opportunity to go to Lake Success, N.Y., to make that speech, at the then newly founded United Nations.
On her return trip from New York, she was a passenger who witnessed the B & O Zoot Suit train robbery, an experience she frequently recounted over the years to family and friends.
Ann graduated from Fort Hill High School, where she was named captain of the cheerleaders and outstanding girl for her class, in 1949. She studied nursing at Frostburg State University, and became a registered nurse after completing Memorial Hospital's rigorous nurses training program.
Ann really enjoyed nurses training and received an award for Increasing the Morals of Nursing.
After she completed nurses training, she married her high school sweetheart, Wes Abrams, in 1952. They moved to Romney, W.Va., and later, Lake Wales, Fla., where Ann worked as a public health nurse. Ann and her family returned to Maryland in 1968 and settled in Rockville. There she worked as an instructional assistant for Montgomery County Schools, until she retired in 1992.
Ann is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wes Abrams; her daughters, Linn Abrams of Baltimore and Beth Kuchar (Chris) of Rockville; her grandsons, David Abrams, and Wesley Kuchar; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. Luke's Cemetery off Goethe Street.
A memorial service will be held in Rockville at a later date.
