Harvey Leon Carroll Jr, 78, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2017 in his home. Born in Live Oak, Florida to Donnie and Harvey Carroll Sr, he was a life-long resident, having accomplished numerous things through the years.

He went through the Suwannee County school system, graduating from Suwannee High School in 1956. After graduation, he was an enlisted member of the Army National Guard for nine years. During that time, he attended Sante Fe Community College, but his primary employment was working as a lineman and meter reader for Florida Power & Light.

Mr. Carroll also owned and operated Carroll's Laundromat, located in Live Oak, from 1969 until his passing. He always enjoyed agriculture, growing crops and tending animals, and after leaving Florida Power & Light, he started his own primary business in the tobacco agriculture industry. His venture proved to be a successful one, having been presented the "Farm of the Week" award in November 1978. He maintained his tobacco business from 1973 – 1992.

He had many business endeavors, throughout the years, that overlapped each other, and in 1991 Mr. Carroll was listed as having owned the largest Registered Texas Long Horn Ranch this side of the Mississippi. But always one for exploring new agricultural ventures, in 1992 he got out of the cattle business and established a secure foothold with pine straw, building his most successful business of all.

He was a very hard worker, strong-willed, and devoted throughout his life, but when he wasn't working, he did enjoy fishing and keeping a personal garden, talking about family and memories, and reminiscing very much.

Harvey is survived by:

His loving companion of 17 years, Alicia Layne. Three sons, Harvey L. & (Joan) Carroll III, Richard P. & (Rhonda) Carroll, and William Alan Carroll, all of Live Oak, Florida. One daughter Harvest L. & (Zack) Carpenter, of Jacksonville, NC. Five grandchildren, Preston & (Peggy) Carroll, Jason Carroll, Celeste Carroll, William Carroll, and Everleigh Carpenter. Five great-grandchildren, Blake, Pacia, Chloe, Pailyn, and Paisley Carroll. One sister, Maryln & (Al) Fisher.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harvey L. Carroll Sr. and Donnie T. Carroll, both of Live Oak, FL. One grand-daughter, Shannon A. Carroll, and one daughter-in-law, Denice Carroll.
