Christina McQueen was born in 1853 to parents, Catherine McQueen nee Cameron and Archibald McQueen. Catherine and Archibald arrived in New Zealand from Scotland in 1840 on the ship 'Blenheim'. They then took up land near Lake Ellesmere in what became known as McQueens Valley.
It was here that Christina was born.

Christina attended Lyttelton high school and was one of the roll of 99 students.
She was awarded a prize in 1862 for 3rd place in her Bible studies exams.

Christinas father, Archibald McQueen died in 1860 at the age of 41 years. She was around 7 years old.

Her mother, Catherine McQueen married her second husband John Apps Dockery on 19 June 1865.  

On the 17th of February 1870 at the home of John Kerr in Ellesmere, Christina McQueen married John Thomas Radford. John was born in in Garsington, Oxford, England. Together they had 15 children.

Around 1885, newspapers carried reports of legal action relating to the estate of Archibald McQueen with questions relating to sales of trustee estates.

On July 15 1903, at Okaiawa, Taranaki. after a long and painful illness. Christina, the dearly-beloved wife of John T. Radford, and mother of Mrs. W. H. Coghlan died aged 50 years old.

Christina was buried on the 17th of July 1903 in Okaiawa, South Taranaki.

'We do not forget, we loved her too dearly. For her memory to fade from our life like a dream. - The lips need not speak when the heart mourns sincerely. Our thoughts often rest where they seldom are seen'.
