Jack Lyon, 71, of Warren, died October 28, 1997, at Bradley County Memorial Hospital. He was born at Little Rock on January 21, 1925 [sic 1926], a son of the late Odys Carl Lyon and Gretchen Cain Lyon. He was a 1943 graduate of El Dorado High School and a 1949 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He was an outstanding athlete in high school. At college, he was president of Omicron Delta Kappa honorary fraternity. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church at Warren. He was a chemical engineer for International Paper Company and retired in 1991 after he operated his own construction company at Warren for years.

Survivors include his wife, Greta Caston Lyon, to whom he was married on July 9, 1983; a son, Kenny Lyon of Ward (Lonoke County); two stepsons, Steve Gough of Champaign, Illinois, and Greg Gough of Conway; a daughter, Vicki Grimshaw of Maumee, Ohio; a brother, Mayor William Cain Lyon of Fordyce; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Warren with the Rev. Greg Stanley officiating.
