Born in the sub Carpathian region of SE Poland near to Jaroslaw. Family sources list his city of birth as Cieplice but may be referring to Chłopice (just SE of Jaroslaw).
The original Polish spelling of his surname was Saczała & early US records are almost impossible to find due to mispellings. Albert was the son of Agnieszka Piechowska & Antoni Saczała.
He married Anna Mann in Poland & the couple immigrated to the US, settling in Des Lacs, Ward County, North Dakota where they had four children: Carolina Maria, Alfred Wladystaw and twins Frank Victor & Frances Victoria. The family moved to Wisconsin in the 1920's. Daughter Roseann was born after his death.
