David Evans was the son of Benjamin Evans and Hannah Smith Evans. He was a lifelong Quaker, a farmer, and a hardware supplier. He also served as the County Commissioner of Warren County from 1841-1844.

David married Rachel Burnett in Waynesville, Warren, Ohio on 2 June 1813. They were the first to be married in the newly renovated (with addition) Quaker Meetinghouse. David and Rachel had ten children:
