It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our mother Joan Pillard Kronholm, age 84 of East Sandwich. Joan expressed her love of Cape Cod and its history through working as a tour guide for the past 30 years. She was a true Historian of the local culture and loved to share her knowledge to all she embraced. Joan retired to the Cape in 1987 from Madison, CT. And thus her journey into tourism began. She became very well respected within the Cape Cod community working till the age of 82. Joan's true love was her family. She was well traveled and cherished the times they all spent on vacation. Her love for music, her books, and the beach lives in all us. Joan will be greatly missed by all.
Born to Arthur and Eleanor Pillard of Boston. Predeceased by her husband Eric Edward Kronholm in 1993. Survived by 5 children Karyn Schmitt and husband Michael of Sarasota, FL, Robin Taraskewich of East Sandwich MA, Eric Kronholm and wife Lisa of Kailua, Hawaii, Kristina Kronholm of Castle Rock, CO, Karl Kronholm and wife Merete of Norway, Grandmother to Adam and Erik Schmitt, Kathryn Marchitto and husband Michael, Alek Taraskewich and wife Jessica, Larisa Taraskewich and Kenneth Kronholm. Great grandmother to Juliet, Lilliana and Violet. Brother Jean Pillard and sister-in law Virginia, several nieces and nephews, and her loving cat Kassy. She leaves behind many colleagues and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, MA. Burial at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 1:15pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Heart Association .
