Helen Irene Johnson, 88, of Springdale died Thursday (Dec. 4, 2003) in her home.

Born Feb. 13, 1915, in Rimersburg, she lived in New Kensington 50 years before residing four years in Springdale.

Mrs. Johnson was an Avon sales representative.

She was a member of Trinity United Christian Church, Lower Burrell, and participated with the Girl Scouts.

Survivors include three daughters, Frances Johnson, with whom she lived, Chloe Ireland of Tarentum and Mrs. Mary (David) Jeckavitch of Indiana, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Guntrum of Titusville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurl M. Johnson; her parents, Frank and Mary Smoyer Guntrum; and a brother, Tracey Guntrum.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in SPRINGDALE at CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St., where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
