THE GETTYSBURG COMPILER March 18, 1916

Isaac Howard Moore, a well known resident of Fairfield and veteran of the Civil War, died on Monday aged 75 years. HE was a native of that vicinity and has lived there practically his entire life. He was for a number of years engaged at farming. HE enlisted in Company B, 138th Pennsylvania Volunteers.
He leaves his wife and the following children; Albert M Moore and Mr. J A Wagner of Ashton, Ill,; Charles M Moore of Los Angeles, Cal.; Robert M Moore of Dixon, Ill.; Martha M., Frank M., Daisy M., and Arthur M Moore of Fairfield; ruth M Moore of McAllister, Mont. Mr. Moore was a member of General Dixon Post GAR of Fairfield, and the Valley Home Lodge No. 740, IOOF. Funeral services were held Wednesday, interment in Fairfield Cemetery.

**The son of Eli R. A. & Susan (Witherspoon or Weatherspoon) Moore, in 1860 he was a laborer living with his family in Liberty Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 4" tall and had black hair and dark eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of twenty-three in Gettysburg August 7, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 16 as a private with Co. B, 138th Pennsylvania Infantry, and promoted to sergeant September 1, 1862. Hospitalized for illness April 2, 1865, he returned to duty, promoted to 1st sergeant June 6, 1865, and honorably discharged with his company June 23, 1865.

He married Margaret McCreary and fathered the children you see linked below. In 1890, he was living in Hamiltonban Township where he was a member of Dixon Post No. 83, G.A.R., and where he died in Fairfield from "broncho-pneumonia."
