Obituary:

MRS LANTIS DEAD.
Sunday at her home northeast of Markle, in Union township, this community, occurred the death of Mrs. Stephen Lantis, whose death followed just a week after that of her son, Emery, and leaves a doubly heavy load of sorrow in the family where a husband and five children survive to mourn her demise. Mrs Lantis was sick only about a week from lung fever, which is thought to have been brought about in part by her untiring care and devotion to her son who preceded her in death only a week ago.
Mrs Lantis was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Elijah Jacobs and was one of the most highly esteemed ladies of that section of the county, and her sad death is mourned by the entire community.
The funeral services and burial took place Tuesday at Markle.

For the second time within one week, death entered the home of Steve Landis two miles north of Markle when Mrs Landis followed her step-son to the great beyond yesterday evening at about 8:30. Mrs Landis was ill only about ten days and the attending physician pronounced her case grip. Last Monday a step-son died in the family after suffering many months from consumption.
Mrs Landis was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Elijah Jacobs of near Zanesville. She married John Edgar but he died seven years ago and six months later she became the wife of Steve Landis. They resided on a farm two miles north of Markle and to them one son was born who is now but three years of age. She has four children from her former marriage.
Mrs Landis' father was married twice and by his two marriages he became the father of twenty-four children. Of those six full sisters, three full brothers, three half sisters and one half brother are living. She was a little past thirty-three years of age.
Friends here were notified of her death late last evening but at that time no arrangements had been made for the burial.
