Cecil E. Barrett, age 75, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Sunday night in a Richlands, Virginia hospital after a brief illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late John C. and Nancy Taylor Barrett.

He was a member and steward of the First United Methodist Church of Honaker. A veteran of World War I, he served with the U.S. Army and the Marines. He was a member of the Ellis Hargis Barracks of World War I veterans of Honaker.

He was a farmer and was a former employee of the Eastern Coal Company of Stone, Kentucky.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Wells Barrett of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Arrington of Manassas, Virginia; two sons, M-Sgt. Bruce Barrett of Enon, Ohio and John Barrett of Chester, South Carolina; seven grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Crabtree and Rev. W.R. Grimm, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
