Thelma L. Jones, 90, Carson Valley, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Carson Valley, daughter of the late James L. and Thelma M. (Brubaker) Clapper.

On June 16, 1946, she married Ernest D. Jones in Richburg, N.Y., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2003, after having shared 57 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Penny Shippey and Candy Lahr and husband, Stanley, all of Duncansville; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers: Paul D. in Texas and Clair M. of Martinsburg; and two sisters: Lista D. Smith of Carson Valley and Patti J. Baumgarten of Wales Center, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Blaine, Gean, Boyd and James Jr.

Thelma was a 1944 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She retired as an office worker for S.S. Kresge Department Store. She was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Duncansville, where she served on various boards and was a Sunday school teacher.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Duncansville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, Pastor Bradley R. Runkle officiating.

Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, 122 Church Road, Duncansville, PA 16635.
