Farmer, Alsa (fem), 17 Jul 1858, cause: old age, age: 85 years, parents: unknown, pob: unknown, consort: Michael Farmer, informant: Richard Farmer, son

Carroll The Settlements by James Perry Alderman pg 247:
The second Michael (Michael Jr) was probably born in 1773. This is figured from the 1850 census for Carroll County, Va. House Number 782. His wife was named Ailcy, which was the fashionble spelling of Elsie in those days. Some have thought that she was John Fannings daughter, others feel that she is Richard Shockleys. The truth may never be known. She died July 17, 1858. She and her husband were close to the same age. Michael was as prosperous as his brother, James, but unlike James, Michael did not own slaves. Michael's land was all on Glade Creek and consisted of 533 acres which he bought in 4 seperate tracts from the Dodsons and old man Frisbie. He bought his first tract in 1796 and his last in by 1812.
Michael's occupation was a surveyor of roads.
Michael died in 1853. In his will he lists 13 children:
1 Michael Farmer, married Elizabeth Fanning in 1814, but he died before the will was written in 1840
