Alvin was the son of William Ellsworth Johnson and Mary Edna (Beeman) Johnson. Alvin was baptized in Moscow on Thursday, January 27, 1916, at the home of his grandparents, Charles Jefferson Beeman and Marion Nichol Beeman. Alvin's was only three years old when his father died. Alvin was disabled due to cerebral palsy. Alvin's mother was my grandmother, Mary Edna Beeman. Mary said that Alvin would put his bad leg in a wagon, and push with his good leg, to get around. His disability eventually affected his other leg, also. Alvin never had the opportunity to attend school, because of his disability.
In 2021, family members came together to erect a grave marker for Alvin. Information from the Eichhorn Funeral Home burial records indicated where he was buried. The story passed down through the family was that Alvin had surgery on one of his legs, and they operated on the other leg too soon after the first surgery. Alvin died at the West Baltimore Hospital Center at 9:12 pm on August 5, 1930. He had undergone surgery four days earlier. Causes of death, according to the death certificate, were chronic myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), toxemia (blood poisoning), and exhaustion. Rest in peace Uncle Alvin, and know that your are not forgotten.
