HIGGINBOTHAM, DAISY JOHNSTON. Named secretary of the Bluefield chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy when it was first organized. Born in Dublin, Va., August 3, 1869, daughter of M. Stuart and Sallie Foote Johnston. Educated at Concord Normal. Taught school in Bluefield for six years. Married John Crocket Higginbotham of Bluefield, June 21, 1893; three children - John Jr., of Welch, Stuart Johnston of Charleston, and Mrs. Lewis Hutchinson of Athens.
