Lee L. McCandless, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 in Dallas, Texas while celebrating the 1st birthday of his great granddaughter, Maddy. Lee was born on June 27, 1919 in La Pryor, Texas to Lyle & Una T. McCandless. He came to Corpus Christi, Texas, from La Pryor in 1939. During the war he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp., a division of U.S. Dept. of Agricultural Forrest Service. They built state parks in Texas and Wyoming. He owned Nueces Garage for several years doing mechanic and body work on automobiles. He worked and retired from Lindsay-Newsome Auto Appraisers. He was an avid sports fan of all sports. He spent many years managing the Westside Pony League and was President for several years of the Buccaneer Booster Club at Roy Miller High School. His favorite past time was playing dominos with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Una & Lyle McCandless, his wife, Margaret McCandless, four brothers, Ted, Murril, Ralph and Robert and a sister, Alice Northcutt. He is survived by his wife, Eva Lois McCandless of Corpus Christi, Texas; two children, Joyce & husband Michael Sheen of Corpus Christi, Texas; Bill & his wife Patty McCandless of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and a brother, Norman McCandless of Corpus Christi, Texas; also survived by many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, July 12, 2002 at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Seaside Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
