Born Jan. 18, 1919, in Hustontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Edna Mae Hoover Chesnut.
Her husband, John A. Shelly, died Sept. 10, 1989.
She worked as a dietitian in the Tuscarora School District.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Lemasters, Pa.
She assisted the Edward Parnell Ruritan Club of Lemasters, and assisted in the kitchen at the Lemasters Community Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen A. Scarlett of Mercersburg; one son, John E. Shelly of Harrisburg, Pa.; one sister, Arlene Diegelman of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, C. Wayne Chesnut of Mercersburg; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gregory A. Shelly; one brother, Claude Chesnut; and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. The Rev. Harold E. Posey will officiate. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing.
