My Hero. I will be going to the Wall on March the 17th of 07. It will be good to see you again. Jack Sellers, Lakeland Fl, [email protected].

His squad leader: I was Gene's squad leader, he was a big gentle guy, I'll always remember him. Frank Perez, 1007 18th Ave, Moline, Illinois 61265, [email protected].

We were the Best of Friends. I only knew Gene for 10 months. We went through Boot Camp, ITR/BST, WestPac, and even mess duty before being assigned to 1/4 (Gene B-1/4 and Me A-1/4). He told my wife that he would take care of me and get me back home to her, but at that time I thought we both would make it home. Gene was the brother I never had and I think of him often. I named my first son after him and my Dad. It's been 35 years but some time it only seems like yesterday we were talking, laughing and looking to the future. He will never be forgotten. Bobby Horton, 1619 Terry Dr, Griffin, Ga. 30223, [email protected].

He was the son of Mr and Mrs Floyd M Parton, 9 Elkwood Avenue, Asheville, NC.

He served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 3rd MAF.

He was awarded The Combat Action Ribbon(CAR), The Silver Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
