Benjamin Robert Smith was the oldest of 10 children born to Alexander Washington Smith and Jane Rice Bricken Smith. He was born in Green County, Kentucky we believe.

He was the brother to Isaac William, Alexander Washington, Susan Elizabeth, Lilbourn Anderson, George Marion, Lucy Marila, Thomas Icasia, Zemira Jane and Nancy Caroline Smith.

He married Mary McCart on February 21, 1850 in Chariton County, Missouri with his father Alexander Smith, Justice of the Peace officiating the ceremony.

They had 10 children, Alexander, Sarah Anna M., Mary G., Lilborsene I., Louis Franklin, Anna, Elizabeth, A Baby Girl, Robert Lee and Leanadus Smith.

Benjamin served during the Civil War as did his brothers. He ran his own farm from September 10, 1850 till the census on June 12, 1880 in Bee Branch Township, Chariton County, Missouri. Why and When he moved to Vernon County, Missouri is still open for discussion yet.
