Lafayette Norton, 84, member of the Fulton Police Department several years ago, died Sunday night at the Supple nursing home, 408 Seneca st., where he had lived for two years.

Mr. Norton was born in the town of Hannibal May 3, 1866. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Smith Norton, died June 11, 1941.

Mr. Norton was employed as a watchman at the P.C.K. Co. until he retired two years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Root of Fulton and Mrs. L.M. Miner of Mexico; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Sylvester Norton of Gilbert Mills, and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Kinch and Mrs. Esther Burghdoff of Fulton. [note: a third daughter, Gertrude, was disowned over an unapproved marriage, according to her descendant].

The body has been taken to the Foster & Son funeral home where friends are invited to call etc. Services tomorrow with burial in Mount Adnah Cemetery.
