Enlisted, 1898, in Troop 1, Squadron A , NYNG, New York City. Served in Squadron A during the Spanish American War era. He saw field service with Squadron A during the Croton Dam Strike, August 1900. Discharged from Squadron A in 1900.

World War 1, served in the American Field Ambulance Service, also served in Troop B, Squadron A , NY State Guard, discharged March 8, 1918.

GOLD STAR FATHER, World War 2, his son Corp. Spencer Godwin Campbell was killed in action, November 20, 1944, as a member of 333rd Infantry Regiment 84th Division.
